In this Insurance Institute of London (IIL) property webinar, Gillian Sinclair will talk about the Energy from Waste (EFW) market and the associated risks in construction and operations.
The presentation will set out the purpose of an Energy from Waste facility and give an overview of the EFW sector in the UK, including how the process works.
It will explain that the facility should be viewed as a power station and will provide an overview of the business model and revenue streams – contracted/uncontracted waste and electricity generation.
In this webinar, the speaker will also discuss the plant development cycle, planning and site selection (avoiding flood exposed locations), highlighting property risk factors – good power station design, technology selection, commissioning, maintenance planning, operator training, relationships with original equipment manufacturers and fire protection design considering waste streams.
