In this IIL financial planning webinar, Rhiannon Gogh shares her experiences of the unique financial planning needs of the carers of children with additional needs and how government work in this area can apply to the provision of advice.
An estimated 16 million people in the UK had a disability in 2021/22 representing 24% of the total population. The proportion of children reporting a disability is 11%, a figure that has almost doubled in the last decade*.
Having presented to many thousands of carers in her career, Rhiannon shares the unique financial challenges and concerns of families of those with disabled children face. She looks at the financial impact of raising a child with disabilities and the role of the special needs financial planner. She reflects on the role of financial advice in light of the Government’s Disability Strategy. The speaker also shares the role that education, information and the use of online training courses can play, and how frameworks and processes help.
