Webinar: What new types of claim, arising from Covid-19, may come from the United States?

In this Insurance Institute of London (IIL) claims webinar, Phillip Maltin will talk about how the US has reacted to Covid-19, the potential wave of lawsuits, and what insurers should be considering now.

Reacting to the pandemic, the United States quickly enacted new laws designed to protect lives and reinforce the buckling economy, which some businesses have speedily reacted to. This new legislation could lead to a surge of new type claims from the United States once it emerges from its ‘quarantine’.

In this webinar, Phillip will offer his view on these potential new claims, including claims under EPLI policies (including invasions of privacy, harassment and discrimination, unfair layoffs and failures to rehire), claims under D&O policies for (poor business decisions and unfair business practices – for example, in processing loan applications for federal money). The webinar will also survey the most recent activity in commercial property insurance claims for business interruption.

By the end of this webinar members would have gained an insight into:

• The potential wave of EPLI and D&O claims
• Things insurers should consider immediately
• Future strategies
