In this Insurance Institute of London (IIL) accident webinar, Richard Lawrence and Michael Salau will discuss the complexities of waste legislation/regulations and how breaches can give rise to a claim under an insurance policy.

Description

The webinar will also provide an overview of the potential costs associated with these claims and will provide an understanding of how coverage may vary under different types of policy in the market. Richard will focus on two case studies, both of which relate to claims made under an insurance policy for the illegal importation, processing or depositing of waste on an insured premise. He will discuss where/how a legal liability attached to the insured party and how the policy responded (or did not as the case may be). He will also talk about how policy cover can differ for this type of incident both under the more standard commercial forms and also under environmental impairment policies.

Michael, in contrast, will lead the talk with a summary of waste legislation and how legal liabilities may attach to ‘innocent’ landowners and site operators.
