In this Insurance Institute of London (IIL) Inclusion and Diversity webinar, Joanna Bedford will talk about the challenges faced by unpaid carers and the support and care St Joseph’s provides to families in East London, in three of London’s most diverse inner-city boroughs.
The webinar aims to highlight the challenges that carers of end-of-life patients face to better prepare members who may meet this personal challenge and create insight for their colleagues in ways to support both the carers and patients, within the context of diverse communities.
On a practical level, the St Joseph’s Hospice Carers’ Service model can hopefully inspire interaction with existing carer networks within the insurance market. During the seminar, we will hear stories from carers in the market and local communities with direct experience of the value such networks can offer.
St Joseph’s Hospice is a vital and life-affirming charity in East London (The City, Hackney, Newham and Tower Hamlets), with a valuable set of resources for those living in its localities. It welcomes and provides opportunities for strategic engagement and volunteering with firms who are in a position to provide charitable funding and donate time to continue delivering this important service, in the current challenging climate
