
This 3 hour CPD visit to McLarens Aviation offices at London Heathrow Airport will offer a behind the scenes look at how a leading aviation loss adjuster operates. With a backdrop of one of the world’s business international airports, the visit will also incorporate a briefing on Heathrow airport and the insurance aspects of airport operations.
This visit will specifically suit part qualified/newly qualified CII members working in aviation and wishing to learn more about the role of the aviation loss adjuster, their activities and their interaction with the insurance market.
The visit will be hosted by McLarens London based surveyors, all of who have extensive aviation experience. The visit will be held at the McLarens Aviation Head Office which is located at World Business Centre One, Heathrow. From ‘WBC 1’, attendees will enjoy an uninterrupted view over the northern runway and on to the terminals and hangers beyond. The programme for the day has been arranged so that the hosts can deliver a brief on the 3pm change of mode from landing to take off on Runway 27 Right.
The visit programme will provide a brief on airport operations, point out areas of heightened risk and allow attendees to listen in to air traffic controllers and ground controllers as they direct the multimillion dollar aircraft around this busy airfield. Attendees will learn about the role of the aviation surveyor and the hosts liability adjusters will provide a brief on the area of risk and insurance covering ramp operations, talking about the interaction between the airlines, airport authorities and ground handlers. During the visit, the hosts will provide examples and explanations of typical insurance claims, how they report to insurance markets and how they manage the complex array of competing priorities.
During the visit members will gain an insight into:
-Operations at Heathrow Airport
-An understanding of the complexity of operations at a major international airport
-An understanding of the role of the aviation loss adjuster, their activities and their interaction with the insurance market
-An understanding of the liability arising from ground operations and the contractual agreements in place to cover handling of aircraft on the ramp
All presentations will include a Q&A session. Refreshments and lunch will be provided.
Attendees will be required to make their own travel arrangements to/from Hatton Cross tube station. Transport will be provided to/from the station to McLarens. Please note that there is no public parking available on site.
