The Insurance Insider will host its inaugural US Property Cat Awards on 5 April – an event to recognise the market’s achievements and celebrate its rising stars, superstars and most skilled practitioners.

Unlike traditional awards ceremonies where a panel of judges pick who they believe to be the winner of a category, the winners of the US property cat awards are derived from aggregated survey data collected by The Insurance Insider’s rankings team.

The survey only allows for underwriters and brokers active in the US property cat reinsurance sector to take part and results are statistically significant. We ensure minimum levels of participation are set so as to achieve a maximum error margin of 10 percent of overall scores at a 95 percent confidence level (this means the sample size is sufficiently large so as to ensure the ranking scores remain unchallenged if the survey were to be run repeatedly).

For the shortlists of each individual award, we pick the top five highest ranked individuals from each company in their respective field. For the company awards, we pick the top five firms that receive the highest score for that category.

The winner of each category is simply the individual or company with the highest score made up from their supporters’ votes.
