
The Nordic Plan has been successfully marketed and adopted around the world and is increasingly seen as the policy form of choice for quality fleets. However much of the expertise for handling and adjusting claims has tended to reside in Norway, and many marine claims handlers and adjusters outside of Norway have to reach for their often wellworn copy of the Commentary on the Plan for guidance.
This market briefing will recap the approach to claims under the Nordic Plan and address perceived challenges of handling and adjusting claims under the Plan. It will also look at the upcoming revisions to the Plan next year.
The Speaker: John Martin began his career in London in 1989 with Richards Hogg Lindley Average Adjusters, and qualified as a Fellow of the UK Association of Average Adjusters in 2000. He worked in the RHL offices in Australia, Taiwan and Hong Kong before joining Gard Hong Kong in 2003, where he handled P&I and H&M claims. From 2011 he spent 3 years as Director Claims in Gard Japan, before moving to Singapore in 2014 to set up Gard’s new office there. Besides running the Gard Singapore office John also heads the P&I and H&M claims units.
