The evolving client

27 February 2019

The evolving client

In this Insurance Institute of London (IIL) financial services lecture Rose St Louis will explore the changing client landscape, focussing on three segments and their need for sound financial planning with a focus on protection advice.

In this session, Rose will focus on three client segments with diverse needs; gig economy workers, women and young people. These groups make up a significant part of our potential client base however though are often underserved.

Whether or not they are part of your current client profile they are likely to be at some stage. Rose will examine how their need for financial advice can be satisfied, particularly in relation to protection.

Client protection needs are generally universal, including cover for a mortgage, replacing an income due to long term ill health or disability, family protection should the worst happen, or having a lump sum to pay an inheritance tax bill upon death. However protection solutions now need to be flexible, relevant and offer you and your clients’ choice and control. With this in mind, Rose will explore why it’s important and how it can be achieved.

Finally, she will examine how to review clients protection needs in order to deliver value.

By the end of this lecture members would have gained an insight into:

• Considering the ever-changing client landscape
• Understanding the main influences affecting clients’ financial planning requirements
• Identifying protection opportunities within specific client segments
