The LMA invites you to an event on the key issues, trends and insights on historical abuse claims in Australia.
The Australian judicial system has become far more sympathetic to victims of alleged historical child abuse since the findings of the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse (2013 – 2017). The report uncovered historical child abuse, connected with out-of-home residential care, religious institutions, foster placements and educational providers.
This event will look at the rise of significant legislative change, including the removal of statutory limitation periods for pursuing civil claims for historical abuse, as well as an increased recognition by courts that there are many legitimate claims of historical abuse.
Due to restricted numbers, if you register and subsequently are unable to attend, please email jackie.clark@lmalloyds.com.
This event is open to international liability, general liability and casualty treaty reinsurance underwriters, as well as those with an interest in the liability field.
