In this BILA Lecture, Peter Macdonald Eggers QC will discuss Testing the Boundaries of the Third Parties (Rights against Insurers) Act.

The presentation will consider the major issues which have arisen under the 1930 Act and still arise under the 2010 Act, in light of recent decisions, including Cultural Foundation v Beazley (2018).

Peter MacDonald Eggers QC is a barrister practising at 7 King’s Bench Walk in London specialising in all aspects of commercial law, with a particular emphasis on insurance and reinsurance, shipping, energy, commodities, international trade and international arbitration. Educated at the Universities of Sydney and Cambridge, Peter practised as a solicitor before being called to the Bar by the Middle Temple in 1999. He was appointed a Queen’s Counsel in 2011. He is co-author of Good Faith and Insurance Contracts and Carver on Charterparties, author of Deceit: The Lie of the Law and The Vitiation of Contractual Consent, and a Contributing Editor of Chitty on Contracts. He is a Visiting Professor at University College, London. In May 2017, Peter was appointed a Deputy Judge of the High Court.
