This market briefing session will take an interactive approach to provide face to face training on claims handling according to the needs of the attendees, with a focus on Cargo Claims. 

Description

Throughout the centuries the many modes of freight transportation have advanced considerable. Historical horse-drawn wagons have evolved to cargo shipments via sea, rail and air, proving a safer and faster way to deliver goods both nationally and globally.

However, no cargo is shipped without risk A cargo claim is essentially a demand for monetary compensation in respect of financial loss sustained as a result of a breach of the contract of carriage or a failure by the carrier to fulfil certain extra-contractual obligations.

At this training session, our guest speaker will take an interactive approach and actually analyse the needs and wants of attendees about external loss adjusting. This event will include an explanation as to what can reasonably be achieved during a site visit and how to approach an initial site inspection.

This session includes

• The initial meeting with the Assured (greetings, approach)
• The questions to be asked / information to be obtained
• How to undertake the first oversight / walkaround / familiarization.
• How to take the photos / videos.
• The closer approach (including more photos / videos).
• Identifying and homing in on the issues (the damage and the cause, more photos / videos)
• Identifying possible recovery / subrogation
• Documents to be requested
• Importance of securing evidence during the first visit
