This event will officially launch the Society of Offshore Marine Warranty Surveyors (SOMWS), a new professional body that will enable individuals to be certified and to raise the profile of marine warranty surveying in the wider upstream oil and gas industry.

A presentation from SOMWS will explain:

• The initial focus of SOMWS, including provisions of marine warranty surveyor services under several disciplines such as upstream construction projects, rigs/MODU operations, renewables and general cargo.

• The requirements and criteria required by SOMWS for individuals to achieve certified status.

• How the professional qualification will give confidence to energy market underwriters appointing surveyors on upstream construction projects.

Following this, the JRC will discuss a new suite of endorsements enabling SOMWS to be referenced within the Codes of Practice found on the ‘Technical Documents’ tab of the JRC webpage.
