The Law Commission and Scottish Law Commission are consulting on a new draft Insurable Interest Bill. This is the last building block of the insurance contract law reform programme of the Law Commissions, which has seen the enactment of the Consumer Insurance (Disclosure and Representations) Act 2012 and the Insurance Act 2015.
The publication of this draft Bill follows an Issues Paper published in 2008; updated proposals in 2011; a further paper in 2015 and an earlier draft Bill in 2016. This material and the current consultation can be found on the Law Commission website.
Stephen Lewis, Law Commissioner, and Laura Burgoyne, who is leading this project at the Commission, have kindly agreed to attend this seminar and to introduce the subject. The seminar presents an opportunity for those with a particular interest to examine the draft Bill with the Commission and other interested persons.
Numbers are limited to 40 on a first-come, first-served basis (but with priority given to at least: 10 LMA members; 10 BILA members; and 10 invited guests, including from the Law Commission, academic bodies and other associations).
This event is for the LMA Lawyers’ Forum, BILA members and invited guests only.
