In this IIL inclusion and diversity presentation, Chris Park, Rachael Bull and Tilda Verbeeten, from Alzheimer’s Society, deliver an interactive Dementia Friends information session designed to dispel some of the myths around dementia and help to increase understanding of the disease, with the aim of transforming the way the nation thinks, acts, and talks about dementia.
Dementia is the UK’s biggest killer and currently one in three people born in the UK today will develop dementia in their lifetime. Almost 1 million people in the UK are living with dementia. This is projected to rise to 1.4 million people by 2040. In this presentation, you will learn five key messages and the small changes you can make to make a big difference to those living with dementia. This session also includes an overview of the award-winning Insurance United Against Dementia (IUAD) campaign and the ways you can get involved, particularly in the lead-up to Insurance Day for Dementia on 26 November.
Dementia Friends is the biggest ever initiative to change people’s perceptions of dementia. It aims to transform the way the nation thinks, acts, and talks about the condition. Alzheimer’s Society have already made 3.8 million Dementia Friends across the UK. Will you join them? Come to join us to learn more about it!
