Nigel briefly outlines the world’s carbon budget and why urgent action is needed to avert the worst impacts of climate change. He then unbundles climate-related physical and transition risks, how they interact with other types of risk, and the huge losses they could give rise to.

Building on this, Nigel outlines the main categories of climate litigation, how causes of action are evolving, and emerging trends. The emphasis here is on the types of case that could impact insurers’ liability books. Nigel proposes ways in which insurers could manage this exposure.
