About the speaker: Professor Rob Merkin
Rob Merkin QC is Professor of Law at the University of Exeter and Special Counsel to Duncan Cotterill. He is Honorary Life President of AIDA and Past-President of BILA. At the Rio World Congress in October 2018 Rob was awarded an AIDA Gold Medal and has had similar hours in Australia and New Zealand. Rob has written a number of texts and articles on insurance, reinsurance and arbitration, and co-edits the Lloyd;s Law Reports. He has won the BILA Annual Book prize on three occasions, and a number of his PhD students have also won the prize, including the 2018 prize. Rob will be retiring from full-time academic life at the end of this year, but will still be writing and giving seminars for lawyers, insurers and brokers worldwide, and also teaching overseas. He is currently sitting in SIAC and HKIAC arbitrations.
