In this IIL casualty webinar, Tim McCaw and Laura Madders explain PFAS chemicals and why they are a concern. The speakers also examine recent litigation and discuss what is on the horizon.
PFAS chemicals also referred to as ‘forever chemicals’, have oil—and water-repellent properties and temperature resistance. As a consequence, since their invention in the 1940s, they have been used in many household and industrial applications. It has now been identified that some PFAS chemicals are harmful to people and to the environment. Litigation has existed for over 20 years, predominantly in the States, and there is an expectation that litigation will also follow in Europe.
