Leaders ‘set the tone from the top’ and provide the blueprint as to how employees are expected to conduct themselves, solve problems, interact with others, and represent the organisation.
Although we all face ethical dilemmas, leaders face some unique challenges. The dilemmas they face are often more complex and carry more risk. In addition to resolving these issues to everyone’s satisfaction, they are expected to communicate what happened and any lessons learned to lead the way on what others should do if faced with a similar circumstance. They hold more accountability and are sometimes responsible for the actions of others as well as their own.
