At our inaugural market briefing, we welcome our guest speaker, Gemma Sheppard, who will chat about her successful career, highlighting how determination and positivity can be inspirational, and achieving and maintain success.
The City of London is very traditional with attire – the navy pinstripe suit, dating back to the 19th century, has been synonymous with the London insurance market – and certainly distinguishes our industry from others. Since Lloyd’s of London began, smart apparel has been an unwritten law when conducting business and certainly “no brown in town” is a mantra for male footwear.
The way we dress has a huge effect how we perceive ourselves and, on the way we’re perceived. But how do we decide what to wear, what suits us? And after a lengthy time in lockdown working at home, will we be seeing a renaissance in Square Mile fashion upon our return? How do we revue dressing for work rather than leisure?

In addition, we will also highlight how to decide what is acceptable attire, promoting a positive public image of our organisations, and the market itself, and how clothing can have a positive physiological effect on our workplace wellbeing thus succeeding in building and maintaining confidence.
