Join fellow members for a leisurely evening walk along the Thames and its illuminated bridges, led by an Official Guide to the City of London
See the river in a new light and gain unique insights into the remarkable architecture and heritage of the Thames bridges, focusing on the story behind the Illuminated River, the longest public art commission in the world.
The subtly moving sequences of LED light, created by artist Leo Villareal, reveal the beauty of the existing architecture of London’s bridges and their relationship to the river that flows beneath them. All together they shine a subtle and beautiful light on London and will do so until 2029.
Starting at 6pm, we will explore the eastern City Bridges, including Tower Bridge, London Bridge, Cannon Street Railway Bridge, Southwark Bridge, and Millennium Bridge, before ending our walk at Blackfriars Bridge around 7:30pm.
Our tour will be led by Mike Daly, a fully accredited green-badge specialist City of London guide, and will be fully accessible to those with mobility issues. Feel free to contact us in advance so we can assist.
This will be a wonderful way to explore our great city and meet fellow IIL members in a relaxed environment.
