In this IIL inclusion and diversity webinar, Johnny Timpson, Lauren Garret, Rebecca Deegan and Professor James Davey speak about the challenges victim-survivors of economic abuse face with insurance products and propose ways in which the insurance industry may overcome them.
Economic abuse involves the control of someone’s money and finances, including insurance. Many victim-survivors of domestic abuse find themselves facing multiple challenges with insurance – barriers to accessing cover, unfair rejection of claims or even having life insurance used against them to create fear and intimidation. This is why the charity Surviving Economic Abuse, funded by the Aviva Foundation, has published two briefing papers raising awareness of how victim-survivors of economic abuse are impacted by insurance products and specifically the challenges survivors face with life insurance.
Attendees will gain a broader understanding of the issue and learn about the recommendations that will help support and protect survivors.
