In this IIL claims webinar, Bijal Ladva and Hursh Pratap Singh talk about the discovery of second-hand trauma when dealing with distressing claims, and most importantly, how improved support is required for the insurance industry.
There is a growing understanding of second-hand trauma which we are here to create awareness on today. Certain professions, such as emergency responders and social workers, are more susceptible due to their nature of work. This emerging issue is perhaps overlooked in insurance, despite claims handlers and loss adjusters being required to handle distressing material and support vulnerable customers. Improving support is vital, and we want to encourage employers to be more proactive. The CII report raises much-needed awareness of the issue and draws on strong evidence we will bring to life.
