It is with a sense of gratitude that I address you, dear Delegates, on the occasion of the 50th General Assembly of FANAF, which will be held from February 9 to 11, 2026, in Abidjan, Republic of Côte d’Ivoire, at the invitation of key players in the Ivorian insurance market.
This edition is unlike any other: it marks half a century of existence—fifty years of collective commitment, dedicated effort, and shared vision in service of the development of African insurance.
Created on March 17, 1976 in Yamoussoukro, FANAF now returns to the land of its birth. This homecoming is far more than symbolic: it is a rendezvous with history, an opportunity to honor the pioneers who believed in the necessity of a strong and united African voice within the global insurance arena. This 50th edition will allow us to reflect on our journey, rich in lessons, and to shape and build our future while addressing the challenges of tomorrow. We are called to be more inclusive, more innovative, and more flexible, ensuring continuous adaptation to social, digital, economic, technical, climatic, and all other transformations that may impact the development of African insurance.
Abidjan will be the stage for this moment of unity, gratitude, and forward vision. It is there that we will celebrate the legacy of our elders while laying the foundations for a new era in our industry—one of a strong, connected, and confidently future-oriented African insurance sector. To all insurance and finance stakeholders, institutional partners, regulators, and academics: you are invited to join us in writing the first pages of the years ahead.
See you in February 2026, in Abidjan, to celebrate the past, strengthen the present, and build the future of African insurance.
