SUMMARY:Understanding Hurricane Risk in a Changing Climate: The Hurricane Damage Index 2025
DESCRIPTION:Understanding Hurricane Risk in a Changing Climate: The Hurricane Damage Index 2025\nJoin us for a virtual presentation by Professor Ralf Toumi\, co-author of the recent research article on the Hurricane Damage Index\, published in the Journal of Catastrophe Risk and Resilience. \nThis session will explore current hurricane hazard insights and the implications of climate change on future risk\, based on work funded by the Lighthill Risk Network. \nThe session is open to exposure management and claims professionals across the market and will include: \n\nAn overview of the Hurricane Damage Index (HurDI) framework\nKey findings from recent research\nImplications for catastrophe modelling and risk assessment\n\nAttendees will gain a deeper understanding of hurricane risk in the context of climate change\, based on cutting-edge research from Imperial College London. The session will introduce the HurDI\, a novel framework for assessing non-stationary hurricane risk across the continental United States. \nParticipants will learn about recent findings funded by the Lighthill Risk Network\, including insights into current hazard levels and future projections. This knowledge will support more informed decision-making in exposure management and claims handling. \nSpeakers\n\nProfessor Ralf Toumi\, Co-Director\, Grantham Institute – Climate Change & Environment\, Imperial College London\n\nAudience\nThis forum is open to exposure management and claims professionals.
