SUMMARY:The changing face of terrorism: frequency & methods - what have we learnt?
DESCRIPTION:In this IIL property lecture James Spencer will discuss the origins of terrorism\, how it has changed over time\, and the direction in which it seems to be moving. \nTerrorism has been around for far longer than many people imagine. It has changed – and broadened -over the years in both its target set and its capability. Terrorists have changed their organisational habits\, and are also changing their strategic intention to match both that and the change in the business and political environment. While the security services have done an impressive job of preventing much terrorism\, they will not be lucky every time\, and companies must prepare to mitigate against an attack. \nBy the end of this lecture members would have gained an insight into: \n • What terrorism is\, and is not\n • Changes in terrorist groups and attack MOs\n • How to mitigate against terror \nSpeaker Bio:\nJames Spencer is a Global Terrorism Risk Consultant within AIG’s Client Risk Solutions group\, based in London. He began his career in the British Army\, spending time in Northern Ireland trying to counter terrorists from both sides of the divide\, before working in the wider Middle East and North Africa on both nationalist and Islamist terrorism\, and related issues. After leaving the Army\, he broadened his scope in the security\, risk and resilience field to include Sub-Saharan Africa\, mitigation and recovery\, and non-violent challenges\, spending three years with an international bank in Africa\, working on Business Continuity\, Security and Political Risk issues. \nChair: \nSimon Warren\, Senior Underwriter\, Commercial Property\, AIG. \n \n\n \n Share this event with your colleagues:\n \n \n \n\n \n \n\n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n Facebook\n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n Twitter\n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n LinkedIn\n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n Email\n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n This event requires membership.
