SUMMARY:The Air League - Changing lives through aviation
DESCRIPTION:In this IIL aviation webinar\, the Air League team cover the range of programmes at work with children (young learners)\, veterans and early-career individuals to realise the vision of ‘Changing lives through aviation’.  \nDescription\nThe Air League is the UK’s leading aviation and aerospace charity with a vision focused on changing lives through aviation. Its mission is to inspire young people by awarding scholarships and work opportunities through aviation. In this session\, the speakers describe the Air League programmes/projects and how ‘Changing lives through aviation’ is delivered. \nThe ‘Soaring to success’ programme forms the basis of the Air League’s youth outreach. It is aimed at 13 to 17-year-old students in state-funded education\, particularly those with no former connection to aviation or aerospace industries and encourages young people to consider a career within aviation and aerospace. \nThe programme briefly comprises\n\nTwo live-broadcast career conferences where students can engage with speakers from seven leading organisations showcasing 21 distinct career opportunities across the broad scope of aviation and aerospace\nAccess to a series of e-learning enrichment courses built with partner companies to provide deeper industry knowledge and context\, new industry-related learning\, and further career profiles/apprenticeship information and signposting\nAn Air Experience Day at a local British Gliding Association gliding club or Microlight Flying Club\, including an aerotow glider flight and opportunity for each participant to take a turn at the controls alongside other workshop activities and further careers signposting;\n\n \nLearning objectives\n\nHistory and current activity of the Air League\nCurrent programmes/projects across the UK\nESG / CSR opportunities for involvement\nSponsorship and corporate subscription opportunities and volunteering routes\n\nSpeakers\n\nIan Morrison CBE\, Chief Executive Officer\, The Air League\nCaroline Smith\, Chief Operating Officer\, The Air League\nSamuel Gervais\, Communications and Development Director\, The Air League\nAndy Jervis\, Education and Operations Officer\, The Air League\n\nAudience\n\nFor schools: The programme is tailored to enrich existing Career Education Information Advice and Guidance in schools and to positively impact pupil premium students through engagement\, aspiration\, and contact with employers and positive role models.\nFor employers: The career insights and signposting of the conference and e-learning modules produce a guided narrative to introduce young people to the industry\, participating companies\, the type of learning and work they may undertake and the early career opportunities available and accessible to them.
