DESCRIPTION:Members’ Private Curated Tour – Museum of the Home\nAll members are invited to join us for a private out-of-hours morning tour of the Museum of the Home (formerly known as the Geffrye Museum). \nThe Museum of the Home has its roots in 300-year-old almshouses in Hoxton. \nRecently reopened in 2021 following a multimillion-pound refurbishment\, it now tells the story of how domestic interiors have evolved from 1600 to the present day\, and the future of the home. \nThe Museum is kindly opening its doors to London Institute members for a private\, curator-led morning tour before it opens to the public. \nHighlights of the tour include\n\nThe Home Galleries – we will learn about the meaning of ‘home’ and explore treasured ornaments\, furniture and photos – contemporary and historical\nRooms Through Time – travel through time as you discover recreations of living spaces from the 1630s\, through Victorian times\, the 20th century\, the present day\, and how homes may look in the future\nEastEnders at 40 Display – this special display celebrates 40 years of London’s most beloved soap\, exhibiting iconic costumes and props from some of its most memorable moments\nGardens Through Time – wander through recreated city gardens from a Tudor knot garden to a modern green roof\, exploring how our gardens echo changes in society and follow the fashions and innovations of the time.\n\nSpaces are strictly limited and allocated on a first-come\, first-served basis.
