The trend of LOF numbers remains generally downwards;. salvage companies are facing commercial pressures\, and\, who is going to process the next generation of casualties? \nSalvage projects may vary with regard to urgency\, cost considerations and commonly\, if a vessel returning to service is marketable\, the salvage operation can be typically driven by its commercial value. Will advanced technology and progressive ship standards reduce the number of casualties? \nThis market briefing will emphasise current marine casualties\, what elements are needed to make a successful salvage claim and will contain a review of recent casualties examining various issues and challenges that face the present day salvage industry. In addition\, the presentation will include a short video of a salvage operation illustrating the matters raised during the seminar. (film by Ardent’s predecessor Wijsmuller). \nSpeaker: Paul Haworth is a solicitor and legal director at Birketts LLP and is one of only a handful of shipping lawyers to have sailed as a Captain and be legally qualified. He is experienced in all aspects of shipping law\, having previously been a Partner at a niche shipping law firm in London. He has particular specialism in LOF salvages and wreck removal contracts and acts for salvors as well as P&I Clubs.
