SUMMARY:Digital perils and risks at sea
DESCRIPTION:In this Insurance Institute of London (IIL) claims lecture Professor Kevin Jones and Kimberly Tam will discuss what affects maritime cyber risks\, and the perils they may introduce\, and ways the sector needs to evolve its cyber-safety as technology becomes more advanced\, relied-upon\, and prevalent in the modern world. \nPerils at sea\, and the wider maritime cyber-security threats and risks\, are affected by a wide range of elements. In this lecture\, Kevin and Kimberly will explore what these elements are\, as they range from cyber to physical\, static and changing\, and how they affect certain risks and dangers in maritime. From here\, they will then discuss how several traditional risk assessment\, from both cyber and maritime backgrounds\, do not completely assess all the elements that may trigger a cyber-accident or cyber-attack in maritime. As neither fully encompass the entire threat landscape\, they will then discuss a maritime-cyber specific threat assessment tool that bridges the two disciplines to provide unique\, appropriate\, risk assessment capabilities to ships and ports. From this\, conclusions are made on how the maritime community can better prepare themselves for the existing and growing number of cyber-threats. \nBy the end of this lecture members would have gained an insight into: \n • How maritime cyber-threats need to be assessed\n • How existing risk assessment tools are not fully suited for maritime-cyber specifically\n • How a new maritime-cyber risk assessment tool can help identify and mitigate a number of cyber-related threats at sea and at port \nChair: \nAndrew MacKenzie ACII\, Marine Claims Adjuster\, Atrium Underwriters Ltd. \n \n\n \n Share this event with your colleagues:\n \n \n \n\n \n \n\n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n Facebook\n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n Twitter\n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n LinkedIn\n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n Email\n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Visit Event Website
